dCLS in plain words

It is a way for two companies in different countries to swap one currency for another quickly and without risk — so that both sides receive their money at the same moment. Below we explain it without the jargon.

Imagine this

Imagine swapping roubles for dirhams with someone on the other side of the world. The catch is trust: if you send your money first, there is no guarantee the other side will send theirs back. Normally a middleman solves this, but the money travels through a chain of banks and takes a day or two to arrive. dCLS is a reliable «automatic middleman»: it holds the money from both sides and releases the two amounts strictly at the same time. Either the whole swap happens, or nothing happens at all — there is no half-way.

How it works, simply

1
The two sides agree themselves
The two companies decide the rate between themselves — for example, how many roubles for one dirham. dCLS does not set the rate and does not sell anything.
2
The money is set aside
Each side puts its amount aside in advance, so there is definitely enough for the swap. Until the swap happens, that money is «reserved» and cannot go anywhere else.
3
The swap happens at once, in full
At the agreed moment both amounts change hands simultaneously. It can never happen that one side has paid and the other has not. Both parts at once, or neither.

How it works today — and why it is inconvenient

Slow

An ordinary cross-border transfer travels through a chain of intermediary banks and arrives in one or two business days. For an urgent supplier payment that is a long time.

There is a risk

In the usual setup one side may pay first — and be left with nothing if the other side is late or backs out. That is exactly the risk dCLS removes: both sides receive their money at the very same moment.

What you get

Faster

A swap inside the platform takes seconds to minutes, not a day or two through intermediary banks.

No «paid but never received»

The two amounts change hands at the same time, so neither side ends up worse off.

Money stays at home

Roubles stay in a Russian bank, dirhams in a UAE bank. What changes hands is the rights to the money, not the cash itself — so the money never crosses the border.

Fully transparent

Every swap is recorded and can be checked. No black boxes — you can see what happened and when.

A few quick answers

Is this an exchange or a currency shop?

No. dCLS does not sell anything and does not set the rate — it only carries out, reliably, the swap the two sides agreed on themselves.

Do you decide the rate?

No. The participants choose the rate themselves. Our job is to run the swap fairly and at the same time for both sides.

Does my money leave the country?

No. The money stays in a bank in your country. Only the rights to the amounts move between countries, not the cash itself.

Honestly about timing

The swap itself, inside the platform, is fast — seconds to minutes. But to start using it, a new company has to be checked (documents, source of funds), which takes a few business days. The service runs as a pilot (beta): we onboard participants gradually and do not promise «everything at once». We will share exact terms and timing when you join.
